Established in 1893, The Scots College is one of the oldest boys' schools in Australia. Mark was engaged as lead fire safety engineer in the new Business Studies Centre working alongside the School, architects JCA Architects and approval authorities. The extension comprised a new building adjacent to and interfacing with the existing Main School Building. Mark’s early involvement in the design team meant that value engineering form a fire safety viewpoint taking into consideration the buildings unique design when assessing key fire safety features, such as fire resistance levels, travel distances, compartmentation, exit provisions and smoke hazard management, adding significant cost-benefit to the project and client.
