Mark performed lead fire safety engineer in his role of the multi-million dollar refurbishment of Cronulla RSL Memorial Club with its stunning views of Cronulla Beach. Mark was involved early on in the design to review not only the proposed works but also the existing fire safety measures in the building. As part of this role, Mark prepared fire engineering alternative solutions to address the exit arrangements, travel distances, compartmentation, fire resistance ratings, smoke hazard management etc which were all rationalised, adding significant cost-benefit to the project. In some areas of the works, Mark undertook 3D computer fire and smoke modelling to look at the effects of fire and smoke spread in the building, in order to demonstrate that the acceptance criteria for life safety and fire spread was satisfied.
