Mark has worked on a range of high rise student accommodation buildings, most notably on recent Brisbane projects such as IGLU, 363 Adelaide Street, 38 Wharf Street and the massive WeeHur project at Buranda. The projects ranged in height from 16 storeys, 23 storeys through to 40 storeys all incorporating a unique “cluster” student living and apartment design with communal floors integrated throughout. Some of the projects include over 1500 beds within their developments and large outdoor podium communal areas and café/retail facilities.
Key features as part of the design was the rationalisation of the fire separation between clusters, assisting in the design against unwanted alarms, extended travel distances, reduced fire ratings to commercial areas all adding significant cost savings to the project.
