Prior to moving to Australia, one of Marks projects was the lead Fire Safety Engineer for over 6 years on a €1 Billion development comprises of 11 residential buildings, 2 office towers, over retail areas. The entire development is situated over 3 levels of basement carpark, with each level approximately 50,000m2.
Mark was responsible for multiple Fire Safety Certificate Applications, including all fire strategy and annotated drawings, for the development. One particular design to this development was the entire apartments were designed and constructed as Volumetric Pods (modular-type construction), which have been part of an extensive BRE certification process which met requirements on structure, fire and disproportionate collapse.
Mark was involved in regular inspections and site meetings throughout the construction of the development, in order to provide approval for release to tenants / Practical Completion on a phased basis. As part of the design, Mark provided fire engineering design aspect resulting in major cost-savings in the order of millions of Euro whilst still meeting the Fire Safety Code.
