Mark has worked on a number of the Scalabrini Villages aged care accommodation buildings, from refurbishments of existing buildings to large expansions of others. The projects ranged in height from small single or two storey buildings to new 4-storey developments. As part of his lead role, Mark worked closely with the Client and prominent aged care architects Thomson Adsett in developing and documenting a holistic fire safety strategy for both existing and new developments.
Key features as part of the design was the rationalisation of the fire separation, progressive horizontal evacuation strategies, extended travel distances, rationalise fire ratings and smoke hazard management systems, all adding significant cost savings to the project.
