Mark held a key role in the redevelopment of both Warriewood Grove and Westfield Warringah Mall. His experience on previous large scale retail projects such as IKEA and Dundrum Town Centre in Ireland (its largest retail shopping centre) were crucial in bringing in international experience on the fire safety engineering aspects of these designs. Key to this was Marks extensive experience in smoke control design in buildings incorporating malls and large open spaces. Marks early involvement in the design like other projects reviewed and provided the client and design team value engineered designs on fire resistance levels, travel distances, compartmentation, and particularly smoke hazard management etc. Mark worked on the 3D computer modelling to assess fire and smoke spread within the building to show that the designed satisfied the acceptance criteria for life safety and fire service intervention.
